What happens when I delete a video?

Find out exactly what gets removed when you delete a dub in Dubly.AI, why deletion is permanent with no undo, and what stays unaffected like credits and projects.

Deleting a dub in Dubly.AI is permanent. There's no trash, no recovery window, and no undo. This article tells you exactly what's removed when you click delete, so you can make sure that's what you want.

What gets deleted

When you delete a dub, all of the following are removed:

  • The source video file in our storage.

  • The transcription of the source.

  • All translations in every target language.

  • All generated dub audio in every language.

  • The final rendered video files for every language.

  • All Lip-Sync output if Lip-Sync was used.

  • Any segments and edits you made on the dub.

  • The dub record itself in your Account. The deletion happens immediately and applies to every part of the dub.

What survives

A small amount of data stays for compliance and audit reasons:

  • An audit log entry noting that the dub was deleted, when, and by whom. No transcripts, audio, or video survive — only the metadata fact that a dub used to exist.

What's NOT affected

  • Your Account itself is fine. Deleting one dub doesn't change anything else.

  • Your projects. A project with one less dub is still a project.

  • Other dubs. Each dub is independent.

  • Your subscription or credits. Deleting a dub doesn't refund credits — once a dub has been processed, the credits have been spent.

  • Already-shared external copies. If you downloaded the dub or someone else downloaded it via a share link, those copies live wherever they were saved. Deleting in Dubly.AI doesn't reach them.

When deletion takes effect

Immediately. The dub is gone from the UI, and the underlying files are removed from storage shortly after. There's no soft-delete window where you can recover.

Before you delete

  • Download anything you might want later. Once deleted, you'd have to redo the entire dub from scratch.

  • Revoke share links first if you want to stop other people accessing the dub. Once the dub is deleted, share links no longer work — but in the brief window before deletion completes, they do.

  • Check for active processing. If the dub is mid-render, deleting it cancels processing. Credits already spent aren't recovered.
